GridTools: A framework for portable weather and climate applications

چکیده
Weather forecasts and climate projections are of tremendous importance for economical societal reasons. Software implementing weather models is complex to develop hard maintain, requires a large range different competencies, ranging from environmental sciences, numerical methods, low level programming. In order manage this complexity we developed GridTools, set software libraries targeted at model developers. By separating the description (front-end) its efficient implementation on target platform (back-end), GridTools allows performance-portable simulations variety platforms, such as multicore GPU-accelerated systems. We discuss application regional COSMO show performance results simple benchmarks well COSMO.
